A SECTION of a Taunton road frequently suffering flooding from sewerage is to be closed for a day during essential works.
Wessex Water is carrying out the scheme on the sewerage network on a section of road near Taunton Station.
The work will involve the day-long closure of the road to all traffic from 8am on Sunday, March 24.
A spokesperson for the water company said the closure was "to ensure the safety of the public and our staff".
They added: "We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause."
Wessex Water has written to householders in the area outlining where the work will take place and including a map of a diversion route.
The spokesperson said: "Alternative routes will be clearly signposted and every effort will be made to maintain pedestrian access through he works.
"If you live where we are carrying out work, you will still have pedestrian access to your property.
"We may need access to the street to the front or side of your property.
"Every effort will be made to keep disruption to a minimum and complete the essential work as quickly as possible.
"You can continue to use your sewerage services as normal unless we tell you otherwise."
