IN a recent acknowledgment of long-term commitment, West Somerset Brass Band recognised Pete Owen for an impressive 60 years of playing.
Pete, a skilled euphonium player who has also played Eb bass and baritone, joined the band in 1963, earning him the title of the longest-serving member.
During a recent ceremony, Pete was presented with gardening vouchers to pick a tree of his choice.
The tree will be planted alongside a wooden plaque engraved to mark the appreciation of his enduring contribution to the band.
In addition to his musical talents, Pete has held various leadership roles over the years, including chairman and secretary.
Commenting on Pete's service, musical director Niall Watson said: "Pete’s 60 years with West Somerset Brass Band is an amazing achievement, especially as he doesn’t even look old enough to have been with us for that long.
"We all really value his musical skills, his commitment and loyalty to the band. He’s a great role model."
