A BRAND new branch of leading shoe retailer Skechers has opened in Taunton town centre.

The shop, found on Fore Street, opened its doors for business for the first time on Friday, March 15.

Prior to the opening, the nearest Skechers shops were as far away as Clarks Village in Street, and another branch in Exeter.

Taunton's new Skechers shop will be open from 9am until 5:30pm from Monday to Saturday, and 10:30am until 4:30pm on Sundays.

On Facebook, a spokesperson for the Orchard Shopping Centre said: " Exciting news!

"Our brand new Skechers store is now open!

"Step into style and comfort with the latest collections."

Locals were pleased with the news on the whole - one said: "That's good to get a new shop in our town and opened up."

Another added: "Lovely, have to go in there."

A third resident said: "I will be there next week!"
