A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of attempted theft after being seen in the back of a van allegedly stealing tools in Taunton.
The victim of the suspected theft called the police and in the late hours of Saturday, March 16 officers arrested a 31-year-old man.
An Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said: “The 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted theft from a motor vehicle.
“He was later charged with that offence and bailed to attend Taunton Magistrates Court on April 17.”
A message from the Taunton Neighbourhood Policing group read: “Good result last night in Taunton following a victim spotting a crime in progress and calling it in.
“In the late hours of last night, a male was seen in the back of a works van suspected of stealing tools. The victim confronted the suspect causing the suspect to flee.
“Thankfully the victim contacted us immediately and we stopped and arrested the male.
“Male has been charged and bailed where they will appear in court soon.
“Great work by the victim.”
