NEW build properties are being reserved at a rate of around one per week at two Taunton developments.
Eight key workers have been able to buy their own home over the last couple of months thanks to Barratt David Wilson Homes South West’s deposit scheme at Nerrols Grange and Moorland Gate, which has seen the housebuilder contribute £175,000 over the last few weeks alone.
This weekend the housebuilder aims to help many more would-be buyers when it puts on a Key Worker event at its Nerrols Grange development.
Taking place on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 March, key workers – which includes NHS, teachers, police and fire services, MOD, local authorities, probation and prison services, environmental service, and national highways – can receive up to £17,500 towards their deposit to help get them onto or up the property ladder, plus free flooring.
No appointments are needed for the events from 10am – 5.30pm which build on David Wilson Homes’ commitment to support key workers by extending its Deposit Contribution scheme.
Under the scheme, key workers can receive a £1,000 deposit contribution for every £20,000 of a property’s purchase price so a home that costs £289,000 will see key workers qualify for a contribution of £14,450.
Louise Ware, sales director for Barratt David Wilson Homes South West, said: “Moving house is exciting however for some, raising a deposit can feel daunting.
“Our financial contribution will help to get buyers on or up the ladder and provide key workers with access to the lowest priced, full ownership three bedroom homes in the town.”
Three and four-bedroom homes at Nerrols Grange are currently priced from £289,000.
Nerrols Grange is surrounded by six acres of lush green open space where many properties benefit from uninterrupted views of the nearby countryside, including the Quantock Hills while the M5 and train station are a few minutes’ drive away.
The development includes allotments, a play area, a primary school, and a nursery.
