A historic Glastonbury building will be used in a project to involve young people in heritage and arts.
The Red Brick Building has been named as one of only 18 organisations nationally selected to participate in the National Heritage Open Days Festival's 'New Wave' project.
From September 6 to 15, 2024, the building will host an event produced by youngsters as a part of their involvement.
The Heritage Open Days marketing and projects manager, Liam Montgomery, said: "Our New Wave project seeks to turn the tide on youth engagement at heritage sites, by directly engaging young people aged 18-25 as collaborators, decision-makers, and creators at heritage sites."
This project follows the Red Brick Building's involvement in the successful 'Here Forever' initiative last year.
Now, with the New Wave project, the building anticipates broadening its local heritage activities.
Project co-ordinator Alison Horgan said: "We are delighted that we have this opportunity to work with our local young people."
Indra Francesco, chairperson of Red Brick Building said: “We are really looking forward to collaborating with our young people and hope lots of people come forward to take part. It’s a fantastic opportunity for everyone!"
Young Producers will helm the project, supported by the Red Brick Team.
