A SOMERSET mum has been reassured by police after her son was allegedly verbally abused by a 'group of youths'.
The incident took place in the evening of Saturday, March 16, where a minor was reportedly shouted at by several young men in a car in Wells, on the Portway road.
A witness in the car behind then allegedly challenged the group's behaviour, and was subjected to further verbal abuse.
A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police confirmed: “We received a call on Sunday 17 March at around 9am from a mother reporting her son had been shouted at by a group of youths in a car in Portway, in Wells.
“A motorist challenged the driver and was then verbally abused also.
“Sadly, there were no further details of the vehicle or the individuals involved, however officers from the Neighbourhood Policing Team spoke with the mother and provided reassurance.
"They also reassured her that, where possible, they provide high-visibility reassurance patrols around the housing estates.
“If you are a victim of anti-social behaviour or abuse, to assist us in our enquiries, take as many details as you can about the individuals and the vehicles they are using.
“If you have any concerns, please get in touch either via 101, our online reporting system or your local neighbourhood officers.”
