THE Lord-Lieutenant of Somerset, Mohammed Saddiq, has wished The Princess of Wales a "speedy recovery" after it was announced that she is receiving cancer treatment.
In a televised broadcast, Kate Middleton explained that she is undergoing preventative chemotherapy after cancer was discovered following major abdominal surgery.
In the broadcast, Her Royal Highness explained that the news came as a "huge shock" and that they will need "time, space and privacy" whilst she undergoes treatment.
Mr Saddiq said: "Following the very personal televised broadcast by HRH The Princess of Wales, on behalf of communities across Somerset, I send her and her family sincere best wishes for a speedy recovery in the privacy of her home with her family.
"Anyone undergoing treatment for cancer is in our thoughts, and we hope that the course of treatment being given to HRH will allow her to return to public duty again very soon."
