WELLINGTON'S Lloyds Bank branch has officially closed its doors for the final time.
The Fore Street store shut down yesterday (Monday, March 25) following a fall in in-person customer visits. This was the last remaining bank in the market town.
Last Monday (March 18), a Banking Hub opened over the road in Fore Street. This allows customers from all major banks and building societies to carry out transactions.
The Banking Hub provides counter service operated by the Post Office. It is open Monday to Friday from 9am until 5pm.
Speaking back when the closure was announced, a spokesperson from Lloyds Bank said: “Visits to our Wellington, Somerset branch have fallen over recent years, as many customers now choose to bank digitally.
“When the branch closes, customers can use the local Post Office for everyday banking which is less than a mile away, access cash at the nearby free-to-use ATMs, alongside other ways to bank such as over the phone and online, or the new Banking Hub once it is up and running.”
