THE Chickpea Group has announced that it will be opening its first pub in Somerset.
Located in Ditcheat near Bruton, The Manor House Inn is set to open its doors in June under new ownership.
This will be the group's seventh pub, with other locations including Pitton, Broad Chalke, Zeals, Netheravon, Hindon and Wilton.
The business will feature seven guest bedrooms as well as two dining areas.
The group also has two pizzerias, including Nole on the Square in Salisbury and Nole in the Barn in Wilton.
Inside The Manor House Inn, there will be 50 covers, as well as a 40 cover space in the Nole pizzeria kitchen.
The sale of the pub was facilitated by specialist business property advisor Christie & Co.
Quoting from the advisor's website, Ethan Davids, co-founder of Chickpea Group, said: “The Manor House is a truly beautiful pub and offers everything we look for in a Chickpea country boozer.
"The pub has always been incredibly well-supported by the local area, so we hope people are excited about our plans as we are.”
Richard Wood, Regional Director – Pubs & Restaurants, who brokered the deal, said: “I am absolutely thrilled to announce the successful sale of The Manor House Inn, following its closure in November 2023.
"Given their reputation and expertise, I have no doubt that the new owners, Chickpea Group will maximise the potential of this historic pub and transform it into a thriving establishment once again.”
More information about the "historic" venue can be found on the Christie & Co website, which reads: "Dating back to the 1600s, The Manor House Inn is steeped in history and stands proudly as a cornerstone of Ditcheat’s rich heritage.
"The classic red brick property boasts a range of period features, providing a glimpse into the region’s past.
"Ditcheat is now known for its vibrant community and renowned attractions such as Barber’s Farmhouse cheese makers and Paul Nicholls’ stables, which makes it an ideal location for the revival of this successful pub.
"The Manor House Inn, which has been closed since November 2023, has been purchased by expanding operators, Chickpea Group, and will undergo a grand reopening following renovations."
