Jack Scadden has just returned home after completing the next stage of his 164 Stadium Challenge, which involves him visiting the home grounds of all the clubs in the top seven tiers of the Football League to raise funds for Children’s Hospice South West.
Jack has already visited the Premier League, the Championship and League One grounds and on Monday afternoon completed the fourth leg which involved all 24 of the teams in League Two.
The intrepid traveller, who was accompanied by Shane Jordan, Fred Parish and Terry Gibbs on the trip said: “We started outside Barrow’s ground at nine o clock on Monday morning and headed south to Morecambe then we made our way to Tranmere Rovers Ground and kept going until wee reached Newport County’s ground.
“This time we managed to get to see the inside of seven or eight of the grounds which was a bit different and more interesting than the three previous ventures and at Salford and Gillingham we actually got onto the pitch.
“It almost seems like the lower down the leagues we have come the more interest that there is in what we are doing and the more cooperative the stadiums have been.
“We finished at Newport County at six o clock on Monday evening after driving 1400 miles in a total of 33 hours. Just as we were leaving the groundsman was locking up and before he did he let us go inside and have a look around and take some pictures, which was a great way to finish the trip.
“Whilst we were on the trip - in fact it was on Monday morning when we were at Colchester United’s ground that we hit the £1000 mark, which is what we set out to do at the start. However with three divisions still to go it looks like that we will raised a lot more.”
The next part of the challenge is the Vanarama National League and will start in Gateshead on 29th April and finish on Tuesday afternoon in Eastleigh.
Jack went on: “ Through Karl Lindsay at Taunton Town FC I have been in touch with the National League and they have created a post about the 164 Stadium challenge on their social media, so its nice to see people are buying into it. It also spreads the message about what we are doing and will hopefully raise a bit more money.”
Once again Jack was driving a Nissan Primera supplied by Wellington Motors.
“Wellington Motors have been fantastic the way that they have supported us in this challenge by providing a vehicle to use on all the trips we have done. Their help and support for us and the Children’s Hospice South West is very much appreciated by everyone.”
