AN AREA of a caravan park affected by flooding after “an exceptionally high spring tide” is set to re-open to holidaymakers this week.
The field at Hoburne Blue Anchor in Minehead, which flooded last week (Tuesday, April 9) will re-open on Friday (April 19).
A spokesperson said the rest of the holiday park remained fully operational during the week and holidaymakers affected by the floods were given the choice of a return visit on a later date or a refund.
The spokesperson also said: “Due to an exceptionally high spring tide, combined with unusually high rainfall, the watercourse running alongside the touring field at Hoburne Blue Anchor flooded early on the morning of Tuesday, April 9.
“The majority of the water receded quickly within a few hours.
“A small number of holidaymakers were affected, they were all successfully moved and have been offered the choice of a return visit on a later date or a refund.
“The touring field has remained closed this week to give the ground time to dry out fully.
“It reopens to holidaymakers on Friday. All holidaymakers affected by the temporary closure of the touring field have been contacted and offered the choice of a return visit on a later date or a refund.
“The rest of the holiday park has been open and remained fully operational throughout.”
