Children and young people have the chance to discover the history of Wells Cathedral with the new and interactive Explorer Backpacks.
From mid-April, children as young as three can learn about the landmark's stories and unique areas in a fun and hands-on manner.
The backpacks encompass all necessary tools for discovery, including a map and activity cards forming a child-friendly trail.
For every location on the map, backpack holders are encouraged to find a matching activity card and corresponding item from the bag.
Items such as mini embroidered cushions to smell, a magnifying glass for close-up viewing, a soft toy cat, and a compass are included in the backpacks.
In the historical Quire, children are encouraged to find the organ and then engage with an organ sound box.
Jessica Witchell, learning manager, said: "Now we’ve added something to help young people and their families interact with the special places in the Cathedral during their visit.
"The trail is suitable for anyone who wants to experience the Cathedral using their senses."
The Explorer Backpacks are available with admission, and can be picked up from the Cathedral’s Welcome Desk on arrival from April 22, 2024.
