THE St John’s Church Lunchtime concerts in Taunton will be starting again soon as they enter their 14th year.
The concerts will start again on Friday, May 10.
The newly founded Taunton Sliders Trombone Quartet will be making their debut so people are invited to reserve the date and come along for an exhilarating concert.
The four trombonists who form the trombone section of the Somerset County Orchestra have over 200 years of experience between them and have played in a variety of venues across Europe.
Their repertoire ranges from classical, sacred, and sacred styles to Jazz and modern.
Entry is free but there will be a collection that will be shared with Love Musgrove, Musgrove League of Friends, and St John’s Church.
The Fitzwarren Chamber Orchestra will be marking Somerset Day in a special way this year by premiering a new work at their Fanfare to Somerset Concert to be held on Saturday, May 11, at St John’s Church, Taunton.
The new work called ‘Falls, Footsteps and Follies’ was inspired by the landscape at Hestercombe Gardens and composed by Jeanette Owen.
Apart from this exciting new work, the programme will be dedicated to music that was inspired by the Somerset countryside including the much-loved work by Vaughan Williams, Folk Songs from Somerset.
We are delighted that Deputy Lieutenants Clinton Rogers and newly appointed Sheila Wheeler, the High Sheriff, Rob Beckley, and the Mayor and Mayoress of Taunton have accepted invitations to attend the concert.
Tickets are £10 for adults.
Young people under the age of 18, are free if accompanied by an adult.
They are available online or free for church members.
