THE last remaining bank in a town in Somerset is set to close following an announcement made today by TSB.
The retail banking company announced its Frome branch will be shutting among a total 36 branches across the UK as part of efforts to move to a better balance of digital and face-to-face services.
TSB on Cheap Street will close for good on Thursday, September 19 this year, as a review by the company found only three per cent of personal customers utilise the branch, alongside seven per cent of business customers.

Customers are being directed to their nearest TSB branch in Midsomer Norton, located 9.8 miles away from the Frome branch which is set to close.
It is estimated that the 36 closures announced by TSB will result in the loss of 250 jobs.
The news comes after HSBC in Frome's Market Place closed for good in June last year, following the closure of NatWest, situated directly opposite, just weeks before.
Barclays, formerly located over the road from the closed branch of HSBC - on Stony Street - then also closed in August, leaving TSB, which neighbours HSBC as the town's only remaining bank.
