A family-friendly Party in the Park event is coming to Somerton this summer.

It will take place at the Charltons Community Field on Saturday, June 8 from 1pm to 4pm.

The event celebrates the completion of five year of fundraising efforts to provide an outdoor activity area that serves the needs of the community.

Somerton's MP Sarah Dyke will open the event at 1pm.

An array of free activities will be available to attendees of all ages.

Sports enthusiasts can look forward to football skills, and a chance to participate in basketball tournaments led by an ex-professional international player.

Gladiator jousting and a bouncy castle are also on offer.

For those favouring quieter pastimes, there will be artisanal pursuits such as silver ring making (pre-booking required due to limited slots), badge creation, and bracelet beading.

Visitors can also indulge in a selection of food and drinks, including options from a licensed bar and an abundance of ice cream.

The community day is made possible thanks to Viridor, The Charltons Parish Council, South Somerset, Bernard Sunley, Wessex Water, Big Lottery Community Fund, National Highways Social Value Fund, Tesco, Leonard Stoate, Little Magic Grants, G. Morris Quarry, along with various local donations.
