EXMOOR Search and Rescue Team have once again proved their world-class rescue skills at an international contest in Norway, winning first and second place.
The search and rescue crew, who provide search and rescue capabilities in support of the emergency services in Devon and Somerset, sent two teams of four to the Norwegian Search and Rescue (SAR) games in Svelvik.
Exmoor Search and Rescue’s two teams placed first and second in the contest, from April 26 to 28, and enjoyed “a tremendous welcome and amazing hospitality” during the event. The event is designed to help crews learn rescue skills and meet friends.
The Exmoor crew shared: “The games were back on the calendar after more than a decade's break, and our Norwegian hosts were delighted to welcome their first international guests.
“Exercises took place over a 48-hour period, deep into the night, and tested participants' skills across a range of disciplines, from throw lines to search and Basic Life Support.
“A wonderful banquet meal finished off the weekend, with the two Exmoor teams coming first and second.
“With many learnings on both sides, friendships established and a promise for a return trip, massive thanks go to our hosts for such a tremendous welcome and amazing hospitality.”
