POLICE are encouraging people to come forward and surrender any harmful objects by using knife bins across the county.
An Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said: “Carrying a knife makes you more likely to be involved in an incident, and more likely to be harmed.
“These knife bins are in place across West Somerset, and we encourage more people to come forward and surrender any harmful objects whilst remaining completely anonymous.
“This will help us continue to raise awareness, taking dangerous knives off the streets whilst keeping our communities a safe place to live.
“The knife bin for those in Taunton is located at Deane House, Belvedere Road, Taunton.
“The knife bin for those in Wellington is located at Wellington Police Station, Victoria Street, Wellington.
“The knife bin for those in the West Somerset area is located at Minehead Police Station, Townsend Road, Minehead.
“If you're concerned about knife crime, or someone you know carrying a knife, you can report anonymously online via CrimeStoppers or by calling 0800 555 111.
“You will remain 100 per cent anonymous and will not be contacted by the police. Find out more: https://orlo.uk/3J6Mr.”
