TAUNTON Pride have said they have taken the decision to make tickets for this year’s event free.
The group recently announced that Taunton Pride will take place on September 21 in Vivary Park and now also shared their decision to keep the event free.
A spokesperson added that this means the group will be “relying on the community to donate if they can”.
The spokesperson said: “We are delighted to announce that tickets are now available for this year's Taunton Pride, on September 21 in Vivary Park, through our website.
“We have also taken the decision to make them totally free this year. This does mean we are relying on the community to donate if they can.
“You will be invited to donate when you book tickets, and we have also started a Crowd Funder which you can find here: Taunton Pride 2024 - a Community crowdfunding project in Taunton by Taunton Pride (crowdfunder.co.uk).
“Taunton deserves for this event to become a regular fixture, and to create a safe, welcoming place no matter who you love, and we have worked with Crowd Funder to enable people not just to donate, but set up their own fundraisers on our behalf (which you can do on our Crowd Funder page).
“If you decide to raise money for the event we will personally acknowledge and celebrate this on the day, if you would like us to. You will be a true Pride hero.
“We are putting together a diverse and sparkling line-up of acts, and building on the attractions and activities we had last year.
“We will once again be a safe, celebrative environment for people of all orientations, ages, and backgrounds, and yes, you will be able to march with us through Taunton again this year too.
“Stay tuned to our Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn for updates, and see you in September.
“Love and solidarity.”
