A RAINY Chelsea Flower Show bursts into bloom this week, so let’s cast our minds back to when Taunton florist Charlotte Murrant took home her second Gold Medal from the show in 2015.
Charlotte, who owns Fleur Amour in Taunton, first qualified and won Silver at the show in 2011 for her take on a ‘Swedish Ice Hotel’ bridal bouquet. The talented florist returned in 2014 to win Gold with an intricate pink floral ‘crystal ball’ dress.
In 2015 Charlotte went back for more, taking home another Gold Medal for her spectacular Treacle The Tree arrangement, and the title of RHS Young Chelsea Florist of the Year.
Speaking about the win, Charlotte said: “Winning Gold at Chelsea was just incredible, it’s a feeling you can never get from anything else, you can never really explain it. To get Gold once was mindblowing, but to get Gold twice and to get Best In Show was unbelievable, absolutely incredible. I’d love to go back and try it again.”
Charlotte added: “I love what I do, there’s nothing better than sharing the happiness flowers give to people. I think floristry is something that chooses you (...), once you start doing it it’s almost like an addiction”
Jane Cowling, Charlotte’s former manager at EDEN, Taunton, said after Charlotte’s win: “We are immensely proud of Charlotte and the hard work she put in; she is a very gifted and talented florist.”
It was Charlotte’s second win at Chelsea that spurred her on to open her Taunton-based wedding floristry business, Fleur Amour, in 2016.
She said: “I decided after eight years working at EDEN as a retail florist and doing a lot of the weddings, that if I was going to become a specialist wedding florist and set up my own business then with my Chelsea success so fresh now was my best opportunity!”
Fleur Amour’s success is cementing Charlotte’s place as “a rockstar in the wedding floral world.” Find out more at fleuramourweddingflorist.co.uk.
