OUR vision is a Somerset wide Nature Recovery Network creating more space for wildlife, benefitting everyone and playing a part in helping us reverse biodiversity loss and tackle the climate crisis.
In order to build a thriving Nature Recovery Network, we need strong, interconnected wild spaces and healthy habitats that provide space for nature to thrive and restore the resilience of our ecosystems at a landscape scale.
This can then provide healthy soils, clean air and water. We know that there are many people across the county who have a passion and energy to drive positive change, whether that’s through a nature reserve, park, school ground, garden, churchyard, allotment, or other green space.
Only together can we bring about the change that nature needs, and we hope to support communities and individuals to do that through a variety of resources, events and networks.
If you’re a landowner, small holder or community group that owns or manages land primarily for nature, then why not join the Public & Community Nature Reserves Network? Hosted by Somerset Wildlife Trust, this user-led network provides peer-to-peer knowledge sharing and support. Our Re-launch event is taking place on Saturday, July 6.
Our Community Campfire events are a virtual space to share ideas, celebrate successes and meet with like-minded communities and individuals who are taking action for nature. Our next event is on Wednesday, July 17.
Nothing beats connecting in person, so we are also hosting a celebration event on Saturday, October 12 for individuals and communities across Somerset who want to create a wilder future.
Whether you’re passionate about nature-based solutions to climate change, keen on wildlife recording or want to create more space for nature in your own garden please come and take part!
