BRIDGWATER & Taunton College (BTC) has announced the launch of its exclusive Somerstage Associate Programme.

The initiative is a result of a collaboration between BTC and the distinguished musical theatre school Somerstage.

Its aim is to enhance the capabilities of musical theatre students, helping them to elevate their 'triple threat' skills across acting, singing, and dancing.

The Somerstage Associate Programme pulls together over 15 years of professional experience in the entertainment industry.

The partnership with Somerstage emphasises personal progress, nurturing the talents and aspirations of young performers who wish to carve out successful careers within the lucrative industry.

It offers immersive training to the students, arming them with the crucial skills they require to captivate audiences on stage.

Industry-acclaimed figures, Lisa Bonser, Tim Bonser, Dean Brammall, and Phoebe Petrov, will be instructing the students in the masterclasses.

These professionals have showcased their skills on recognised platforms including the West End and renowned touring productions such as Mamma Mia, Jersey Boys, Spamalot, South Pacific, and Jackie The Musical.

The collective experience they share covers a variety of roles in the industry, from choreographer to musician and movement coordinator.

One of the core objectives of The Somerstage Associate Programme is to fortify students’ understanding of the industry.

This includes teaching audition techniques and explaining how to build productive relationships with agents.

The programme provides students with insider tips and personalised mentorship, empowering them with the essential tools to prosper and shine in their careers.

Jenny Bowley, deputy head of creative, digital and professional studies, said: "We are incredibly excited about this new venture.

"We have a fantastic provision here for Musical Theatre already, and this will only build and enhance those industry links for our students and our local community."

The students of Bridgwater & Taunton Musical Theatre will not just receive first-class training through this programme, but also have the opportunity to participate in exclusive workshops hosted by guest artists, and gain performance opportunities.

Registration is still open for interested individuals to join BTC and participate in the Somerstage Associates Programme.
