FOUR bus services which run from Taunton will operate on new timetables from next week.

Buses of Somerset is making changes to several of its services in order to 'improve service and capacity' from Monday, June 3.

The changes will aim to provide additional capacity on the 28 / X28 route, and amends to the Taunton Town services - 2 and 4 - will hope to improve punctuality in the afternoon peak period.

Buses of Somerset is also trialling a new route to Yeovilton Air Base on the 54 service, which earlier this year came under threat of 'total cancellation', and sparked a petition to save the service which was signed by over 1,100 people.

The new route will serve people working at the base as well as visitors to the Royal Navy Fleet Air Museum, in partnership with the Yeovil Chamber of Commerce.

The trial will run until September 2024.

James Eustace, Commercial Director for Buses of Somerset, said: “We want to get our service right in Somerset, and following customer feedback on our April network changes, we have made some amends.

"It was clear we needed to add more journeys to the popular 28/X28 route, and re look at services 2 and 4 to further improve punctuality.

“Working in partnership with Yeovil Chamber of Commerce we’re pleased to be trialling a route to Yeovilton's Fleet Air Arm Museum, to support both those working on the base as well as visitors to the museum.”
