Three students from Taunton School have been selected to compete in their sport at national level.

Ben, a Year 11 student, recently captained the England hockey team against Ireland in matches including the Four Nations final held over Easter.

Zoe, in Year 12, is joining the Northern Ireland U21 netball squad after winning the Somerset County Championship and Collegiate 7s netball tournament.

Meanwhile, Johanna, from Year 10, won the 52kg category in the Taekwondo German Nationals.

Dan Pettifer, director of sport at Taunton School, is gleaming with pride.

He said: "We are incredibly proud of Ben, Zoe and Johanna.

"At Taunton School we do everything we can to support our elite athletes while ensuring that all students find their own exceptional in the sport they love, whatever level they are at."

Zoe said: "I’m so excited to have been selected to represent Northern Ireland," while Ben voiced his honour at being chosen for the English Hockey team.

Johanna, a repeat competitor in the Taekwondo German Nationals, described her win as a "dream come true".
