A MAN is set to appear at Taunton Crown Court next month charged with the death of a pensioner in Somerset.
Following a hearing at South Somerset Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, June 5, in which he didn't enter a plea, Reece James McKinven, from Street, will appear in Crown Court on Monday, July 8.
The 30-year-old man has four charges in connection with a fatal collision in Green Lane Avenue, Street.
These include causing death by careless/inconsiderate driving, causing death by driving a vehicle without a licence, causing death by driving a vehicle without insurance, and possession of a class B drug (cannabis).
The collision involved a pedestrian and a Transit van at about 5.20pm on Thursday, March 16 last year. The pedestrian, an 83-year-old woman, sadly died as a result.
Following the collision, the road was closed for a period during the police investigation.
The police added that the victim's next of kin were being supported by a specialist family liaison officer.
