AVON and Somerset Police have discovered human remains in their search for a woman who was last seen over five months ago.
51-year-old Carol was last seen on Wednesday, 24 January in Glastonbury, at around 10:45am in Monmouth Close.
The police said that although formal identification is yet to take place, Carol's family members have been informed.
A spokesperson said: "Officers searching for Carol, missing from Glastonbury, have found human remains near Glastonbury.
"While formal identification is yet to take place, the family of Carol have been updated.
"Our thoughts are with them at this difficult time."
On Tuesday, June 4, a renewed appeal to help find Carol was issued by the force, following an initial appeal in February.
Inspector Jo Wren said: “We are concerned for Carol who typically stayed locally to the Glastonbury and Street area.
“We are continuing to make detailed enquiries into her whereabouts and are also keeping her family updated."
