SEVEN enthusiastic employees have cycled more than 300 miles to a hospice in Taunton to raise money for charity.
The St Margaret's workers pedalled their way into work during Bike Week, beginning their journeys in the early hours to arrive at the hospice site by 9am.
They were greeted by cheering colleagues in a warm celebration of their remarkable endeavour.
This charitable act began with a simple challenge, as Jack Gorman, senior IT technician, started cycling to work after acquiring a new bike.
Encouraged by his coworkers, Tom White, head of business intelligence, issued him a friendly dare to cycle back and forth from his house in Taunton to work 50 times, a round trip totalling around 100 miles.
In return, Tom agreed to make the same trip from his Barnstaple residence.
Their commitment inspired others in their department and soon, Tim Netto, head of IT, joined the ride from Burnham, pledging to do a 30-mile journey each way.
The CEO, James Rimmer, also took up the challenge and cycled in from Bristol.
Mr Rimmer said: "My mum is one of the recipients currently receiving care in our day hospice, The Sunflower Centre, and it was a wonderful opportunity to encourage both healthy living for colleagues at St Margaret’s but also to put something back and get some fundraising.
"Thanks to all who rode in, who welcomed us and all those who have sponsored us."
Together these keen cyclists have managed to raise £1,000 which will provide 24 hours of expert specialist care on St Margaret’s In-Patient Unit.
