FROME Town Council is hosting a community celebration in Victoria Park to mark its 50th anniversary.

The event will take place on Saturday, August 10, from 12pm to 40pm. The day will include children’s craft, music activities, and live music on the bandstand.

Hot and cold refreshments will be on offer, along with fundraising stalls from local charities and community groups.

Councillor Anita Collier said: “It’s a privilege for Frome Town Council (FTC) to have served the community of Frome since 1974.

"One of Frome’s greatest strengths is its strong community, so we’re organising this golden anniversary celebration in the park to being together some of the people and organisations who make it what it is.

"Please do join us on 10th August for a traditional Somerset fête, with live music on the bandstand, activities for children and families and a range of stalls from community groups and charities including Frome Carnival Club, Frome in Bloom, We Hear You and the Community Fridge.

"There will be garden games and activities, the Carnival Club train will be chugging round the park, and we hope lots of people will come together to enjoy themselves in the sunshine."

“If you’re celebrating a golden anniversary, whether it’s a wedding anniversary, a work, school or local organisation’s anniversary, or a 50th birthday, we’d love you to come along and take part in a golden anniversary photograph on the day – look out for further information from the FTC team.”

Further details will be available on the FTC website and Discover Frome soon.
