A CHERISHED pub which has been serving pints for over 300 years is set to reopen after a shock closure announcement last year.

The Globe Inn, in Wells, will soon be brought back to life by new landlords, with an opening date earmarked for later this month.

Chris Iles and Melissa Trot will take over at The Globe on Monday, 15 July, and hope to have the historic inn up and running around a week later.

On Facebook, Chris said: "We look forward to running this once well loved pub and becoming a part of the community, as well as living in the heart of this beautiful place.

"If you have any suggestions on what you would like to see being done for you at The Globe please feel free to leave a comment, all will be greatly appreciated.

"We look forward to seeing you all soon."

The pub closed its doors for the foreseeable future in November last year, when it was confirmed that now former landlords Dan and Mandy would not reopen The Globe after an initial 'temporary closure'.

At the time, the pair said they were 'extremely sorry' for the inconvenience.

A statement from the pub read: "To our lovely customers, we unfortunately have to tell you all The Globe will not be reopening with Dan and Mandy as your landlords.

"We have loved every minute here and have made some wonderful friends.

"The fun and laughter never stopped and we thank you all for that.

"Thankyou for your support and custom over the many years.

"We hope you all have a wonderful Christmas - lots of love."
