AFTER being elected as MP for Taunton and Wellington Gideon Amos, Liberal Democrats, has spoken of the pride he has for his campaign’s success.
Mr Amos was elected as the first MP of the new Taunton and Wellington constituency with a majority of 11,939.
He said: "It is the greatest privilegeHe say of my life to be elected to represent the Taunton and Wellington area in Parliament, the eighth Liberal ever to do so.
"To those who voted for me, thank you, I’m delighted to have seen support from right across our local community.
"To those who voted for others, I will work as hard as I can to earn your trust. Care and the NHS will stay top of the list as will help with the cost of living and cleaning up our rivers and our environment.
Mr Amos added: "We have a huge opportunity to come together to back our area and I have today reached out and talked with the leaders of Wellington, Taunton and Somerset councils about getting more inward investment, which can only be helped by having the biggest Liberal team in Parliament for 100 years.
“Together, we will stand up to the government for you whenever that’s the right thing to do.
"I will do all I can to be an MP for every single person in Taunton and Wellington, and from Kingston St Mary to Hatch Beauchamp, from Burrowbridge to Sampford Arundel and Whiteball.
"The hard work has already started."
