A ROAD closure will be in place to allow essential maintenance work on the A39 at Periton Road later this month.

Somerset Council’s resurfacing work will be carried out on a section of road between Parkhouse Rd and Middlecombe junction.

Access to homes and businesses will be maintained throughout.

The council’s team will be doing preparation work over two days, Thursday and Friday 18 July and 19 July, and resurfacing will take place Monday 22 and Tuesday 23 July.

A road closure will be needed from 7.30am to 6pm on these four days. The road will be open outside these hours.

To maximise efficient use of resources the same team will also be resurfacing Quarry Close and Callins View in Minehead immediately before this.

Preparation work is from Wednesday 10 July to Friday 12 July, resurfacing on Monday and Tuesday 15 and 16 July.

A closure will be needed between 7.30am and 6pm on these days.

Somerset Council’s lead member for Transport and Digitial, Councillor Richard Wilkins said: “It’s vital we repair this stretch of road as it is showing signs of wear and tear.

“We appreciate this will cause some disruption and the team will do everything they can to minimise this for residents and businesses.

“We are ensuring we make the best use of resources by doing two schemes in this area across three weeks.”

A diversion will be in place while the road is closed. You can find information on that here: Roadworks and travel information (somerset.gov.uk)
