ONE Somerset care home has enjoyed a sizzling start to the summer, with staff and residents cooking up a barbeque in the garden.
St Cecilia Care Home, located in Shepton Mallet, invited friends and family to join staff and residents at the residential home last week.
Tracy Woolfrey, manager at the home, said: "We love having events to which we can invite family and friends of our residents, and this first barbeque of the year was a great hit.
"We were all so pleased to see the sunshine, having had so much rain recently, and everyone had a lovely time enjoying delicious food and each other’s company.
"Events like these remind us of the importance of coming together and supporting one another.”
St Cecilia’s kitchen team catered for the event, with the barbeque held after the regular relatives’ meeting - which takes place throughout the year to provide the residents and family members a chance to relax and catch up side-by-side.
The care home, run by the White Care Group, has a busy schedule with plenty of events. It has the capacity for up to 17 people, "in a setting designed to create an environment that is a home from home".
