A NEW restaurant offering authentic Kerala cuisine from southern India is set to open in Taunton’s Independent Quarter.
Koottaan is an independent company, originating in Taunton, which currently has two restaurants in Bristol and Cardiff.
The new location on St James Street is set to open “soon”, although an official opening date has yet to be announced.
Signwriting on Taunton's soon-to-open Koottaan location promises "chai and samosas", plus "masala fries" and "biriyani".
Menus in the restaurant’s recently opened Cardiff location boast a delicious-looking Kizhi Porotta, “served in a fragrant banana leaf” with “tender layers of flaky porotta enveloping a savoury filling of chicken, beef, and succulent chicken”.
A spokesperson for Koottaan commented on a Facebook post by the Taunton Independent Quarter: “This will be the 3rd in the trio of Koottaan venues (we also have a newly opened branch in Cardiff = Koottaan Cardiff).
“We are an independent company, originating in Taunton, with strong hospitality and food production heritage and we're over the moon to be opening in the wonderful Taunton Independent Quarter area very soon.
“We'll let you know as soon as the Taunton social media accounts are live!”
A spokesperson for Taunton Independent Quarter said: “We’re excited to see a new business joining Taunton Independent Quarter in such a prominent spot and look forward to tasting what they have to offer.”
