KINGSMEAD School may have won the unofficial prize for most unusual prom transport this year, with students turning up in a tank, tractors, and trailers.
Year 11 students from the school in Wiveliscombe turned up in an array of unusual motors on June 21, for their prom held at Oake Manor Golf Club in Taunton.
Topping the list of the most creative modes of transport was a historic tank, and most endearing was a student who arrived on a quadbike with his small dog riding on the back.
Another vehicle making a grand entrance as crowds looked on was a vintage tractor-trailer, with no less than six students in the back.
A great effort to dress up was made by all students, who looked fabulous in their formal attire as they celebrated finishing their school years.
One group of friends bravely decided to buck tradition by pairing their suits and ballgowns with smart trainers, and certainly pulled the look off!
Anna Cox, Assistant Headteacher, said: "A fantastic evening was had by all at Kingsmead Y11 Prom. Thank you to Oake, as always, for co-ordinating the arrivals and the event.
"Our wonderful Y11 students had a well-deserved celebration to mark the end of a year of hard work and determination.
"They were all a credit to Kingsmead with a magnificent array of modes of transport and amazing Prom outfits. It was a pleasure to spend the evening marking the occasion with them. We wish them all the very best for their futures.'
