THE Vintage and Salvage Fair will return to Taunton for its third year later this month.

King's College Prep School will host the Vintage and Salvage Fair on Sunday, July 28, with "vintage, rustic, retro, salvage, antique and interesting items" on offer.

It is free entry to those who walk or cycle, a £2 entrance fee per vehicle from 10am to 3pm, and £3 early birds fee of £3 from 8am to 10am.

Organisers for the Vintage and Salvage Fair, who own Vintage Picker in Taunton, said: "The first year we ran the event [2019 at Woodlands Castle] we had a heat wave and the second event [2023 at Kings Hall Prep School] was torrential rain but it didn’t stop hundreds of people from attending."

They added: "As the owners of Vintage Picker in Taunton, we found ourselves travelling around to other areas to trade at Vintage Shows and Flea markets, but felt Taunton was big enough and had enough traders and buyers of vintage items to give one event a go.

"We didn’t realise what a monster we created. The first show had queues of cars backing up from Woodlands Castle to the M5 junction."

Covid prevented the organisers from running an event for three years, but despite the weather  "tipping with rain" at last year's event it was "a huge success".

The organisers added: "We are proud that, not only does the market attract lots of buyers so they leave with unique and interesting items but the sellers are happy because they have made some money but most of all each year we support a local charity by donating a percentage of the entrance fee directly to them.

"Last year we supported Young Somerset but this year we are supporting Thurlbear Primary School.

"The items on sale aren’t what you will find in the high street, they are vintage, antique, rustic rare items that will put a smile on your face."
