ORGANISERS of a charity dance at Wellington Football Club are celebrating raising more than £1,200 for two cancer charities.

Another Night of Elvis with Stuart Horne took place on Saturday, July 13 and was in aid of Stand Up to Cancer and Cancer Research UK.

The successful fundraiser featured entertainment from beloved Elvis impersonator, Stuart Horne - and it was so good that it could become an annual tradition.

It was organised by Ken Bird and Jeanette Bird as a gesture of gratitude following Mr Bird's successful recovery from two major cancer surgeries.

He expressed heartfelt gratitude to everyone that supported the event including the bar staff, food and setup crew, and raffle sellers.

Local businesses including Oaktree Court Care Home, Carl Press, Tim Potter Family Butchers, Blackdown Garden Centre, and No32 Beauty were also thanked for their support.

If you missed Mr Horne's performance, or want to see him again, he will be back in town on Sunday, July 21 when he performs at a free concert staged by the Friends of Wellington Park.

Proceedings will get underway from 2.30pm in the afternoon.
