Shepton Mallet Prison will host fun-filled educational activities for the whole family this summer.

It will open its doors from July 20 to September 1, offering classic games such as Big Chess, Jenga, Hopscotch, and Connect 4.

These family-friendly games, available at no extra cost with prison entry, offer a break from the historical and educational elements of this unique day out.

A highlight of the summer events is an immersive planetarium experience, available from August 3 to August 11.

For £5, spectators will be treated to a 30-minute show exploring themes such as dinosaurs and the stars.

The prison is also offering Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) friendly screenings on selected days.

From June 29 to September 15, visitors can also explore the Wedding Dress Exhibition, an initiative of former local mayor Tanys who donated upcycled wedding dresses.

The display, which is free to explore, tells unique stories through each dress, one even featuring the Glastonbury Festival.

Additional dresses can be viewed with a paying prison entry ticket.

It is certainly a summer not to be missed at Shepton Mallet Prison.
