A CHOIR with Taunton members has delivered a powerful message through the release of its recent single: a cover of 'Fix You' by Coldplay.
Rock Choir's cover was released on July 19. The choir features several members from the Taunton area and was led by Taunton Rock Choir Leader Michael Aris.
There is also an official music video that reflects the emotion and the sentiment of the lyrics.
It demonstrates the healing effects of combined singing on relieving stress and supporting mental health.
In the video, members show how hobbies, time with friends and family, choir practice, yoga, and even sunshine, instil hope and contribute to mental health wellbeing.
The single included over a thousand voices of Rock Choir members and the Rock Choir Vocal Group.
It also showcased a breathtaking violin solo, performed by Richard Toomer, another Rock Choir Leader.
Produced by the acclaimed Grammy award-winner, Kipper Eldridge, who has a reputable background working with artists like Sting, Mary J Blige, and Stevie Wonder, 'Fix You' will act as a fundraising tool, supporting the Mental Health Foundation.
Mark Rowland, CEO of the Mental Health Foundation, said: "We are so grateful for the continued support that Rock Choir gives to the Mental Health Foundation. They have helped to shine a spotlight on mental health by raising awareness and funds for the Mental Health Foundation.
"The Rock Choir single “Fix You” is brilliant, and it highlights the positive impact music can have on our mental health. We extend our gratitude to all Rock Choir members for their commitment to helping us achieve good mental health for all."
Caroline Redman Lusher, creator and creative director and CEO of Rock Choir, said: "We know that singing of any kind is a great stress buster! It can improve confidence and self-esteem and create a joyful and happy lifestyle. I've often been told that the Rock Choir experience should be prescribed on the NHS!
"The overwhelming evidence proves that singing can make a huge difference. I hope that through our awareness campaign, we can further advocate for the benefits of health and wellbeing and raise awareness about anxiety. I am delighted that by creating this project, all of us taking part in or connected to Rock Choir are able to support the Mental Health Foundation and the vital work they do."
To date, the endeavour has raised well above £17,000 in donations.
All proceeds raised by the fundraising video will be directly deposited to the charity via a Just Giving Link.
The single, 'Fix You' is currently available on all digital music platforms.
Rock Choir invites and welcomes all interested individuals who would like to join them, be they experienced or novice.
There are no pre-requisites such as auditioning or music-reading to be a member. Rock Choir also offers a free taster session to those considering to take part in their endeavour.
