THE coach helping people with disabilities through sports classes said his gym is like “a second family”.

Krystian Nadolski opened Spartan Team Taunton in January last year to provide gym sessions and boxing classes.

The gym is based on the Belvedere Trading Estate, where Krystian found a suitable building thanks to the help of the nearby Compass Wellbeing Taunton.

Krystian, who is a qualified coach, said: “I want to help people change their lives for the better, and sport or boxing can help with a lot of things - stress, loss of confidence, etc.

“We work with different age groups - kids, youth, adults or senior. I opened the fitness program for people with disabilities in September 2023.

“Compass Wellbeing Taunton was the only interested company. The class is called ‘Anything But Ordinary Fitness’.

“It’s for adults with mild to moderate physical or learning disabilities.

“It is suitable for standing or seated participants. It runs on Wednesday 11am-12 and 12.30-1.30pm, £3 per session.

“Michelle Edwards, manager at Compass Wellbeing Taunton, helped me find donations for this programme.

“Classes are growing, new people are attending, students are very happy and you can see that this is helping them.

“I had a spinal injury myself and I understand the pain. But sports can be the antidote for bad times.

“Here is a second family because in our gym everyone is the same, no one is better or worse, richer or poorer, we are the same.”
