WELLS is the most stylish place to live in Somerset.

That's according to a new survey by the online store Furniturebox, which has compiled a list of the 60 most stylish places in the UK based on survey research.

The Cathedral city was the highest rated location in the county in the list. Dunster, Bath, Selworthy and Mells were also included.

The locations were ranked by to the beauty of the buildings, the stunning scenery, how worthy the location's best features were for social media and the location’s popularity as a filming site.

Countless film and TV productions have been filmed in Wells, including the BBC adaptation of Wolf Hall and the movie Elizabeth: The Golden Age.

5,000 people were polled by FurnitureBox, with panels in each big city and county, including Somerset.

Wells is one of the smallest cities in the UK and is best known for its beautiful cathedral as well as its independent shops and galleries.

A Furniturebox spokesperson said: “Wells is the most stylish place to live in Somerset.

“All 60 places on the list would have been worthy winners and show why the UK is such a stylish country, loved by artists, film-makers and tourists from all over the world.

“What is interesting is how influential Instagram has become in boosting tourism in many of our top 60, particularly around Somerset. It is a massive help for visitor numbers, too, if a popular film or TV show uses a town or village as a location.

“Most of the locations in the top 60 are not the most affluent or fashionable in their localities. It shows that style can be achieved whatever your budget - and that is very true of furniture.”
