THE competitions for the 2024 Taunton Flower Show have now been announced, with entries needing to be submitted by 8pm on July 29.

This year’s Taunton Flower Show will run on August 2 and 3, with  last entries for competitions needing to be delivered to the gazebo in Vivary Park by 7.30am on Saturday, August 2.

Once again, slight changes have been made to the categories in order to keep the competition topical and fresh.

Competitions are split between 11 Divisions which can be found in the competition booklet and include Fruit, flowers, and veg, Textiles, Cookery, Photography, Fine Art, Wine and Beer and more.

The most popular competition at the flower show will be found in Division 5 where many people fiercely compete every year to decide who can make the town's best Victoria Sponge.

There are plenty of other cooking classes to enter as well with and for those new to entering the novice baking category this year is to bake five pieces of a traybake of their competitors’ choice.

In the craft and textile classes this year there are plenty of choices for all enthusiastic hobbyists, whilst if photos are more your style, the photography classes have a variety of titles such as ‘Spring’ and ‘Happiness’.

The competition booklet and details about how to enter can be found at tauntonfs.co.uk or in a booklet from Taunton Visitors Centre and Monkton Elm Garden Centre.
