Taunton Flower Show have announced they will be hosting this year’s edition of their show on the 2nd and 3rd August 2024.
As the show gathers once again for its celebrations in the picturesque Vivary Park, the charity is continuing its 193-year legacy despite the mounting costs faced by all charities who run shows.
Having been hosted almost every year since 1831, the only interruptions coming from the two World Wars, a flooding of Vivary Park in 1997, and the recent COVID pandemic, the show has continued to grow its horticultural roots due to the efforts of local volunteers and the show directors.
The floral competition is at the heart of the show and will take place in the Floral Marquee alongside a Competitions Marquee, allowing for gardeners, bakers, and crafters of all ages to display their entries in the 250 classes available.
Along with the magnificent displays in the Floral Marquee and the varied entries in the Competitions Marquee the show has plenty more to offer visitors.
There is the Children’s Village, which this year is the show’s largest yet and free for all children, the showground which will have a plethora of traders from carpenters to caterers trying to catch the eye, and there will be a variety of entertainment in the arena and the artisan village to delight all showgoers.
Taunton’s Flower Show is made possible very year by the hard work of local volunteers.
The volunteers Directors said: “We are very grateful to everyone who has supported the show this year, through volunteering, sponsorship, or purchasing tickets or membership.
“The show owes a debt of gratitude to all the many volunteers who readily give up their time to get involved either in the organisation of or assisting with the show.
“We are fortunate to be well supported by a several local groups such as the WI, Local Cadets Units, as well as Taunton Vale Rotary and Taunton Rotary who provide support by running essential areas of the show.
“If you would like to be one of our volunteers, please either pick up a form from the Show Information Point at the show or contact us at the show office, the contact details can be found on our website.
“We look forward to welcoming you all to Vivary Park.”
