PUPILS at a primary school in Taunton have taken to the stage with their production of 'Matilda'.
The youngsters from Priorswood Primary School performed at Taunton's Tacchi-Morris Arts Centre, entertaining parents, carers, family and the wider community with their one-off presentation of the West End blockbuster musical.
The 15-strong cast and crew created an unforgettable night, with many pupils experiencing their first time in a theatre.
The evening held a special significance for a young performer named Dolly, who played the role of Mrs Wormwood.
The show was held to raise money for the Ronald McDonald charity in memory of Dolly’s mum, Chloe Jackson, who sadly passed away last year.
The event amassed over £150 for the charity.
The school expressed their belief that Ms Jackson would have felt pride for her daughter's achievement.
Dolly said: "My mum would have really liked that we donated to a charity that she used and loved.
"This would not have happened without Miss Bardle and I'm really grateful for that."
Hannah Bardle, the writer and director, volunteered her time to guide and direct the production.
Kevin Stratton, the Tacchi-Morris technical manager, worked diligently to provide a professional theatre experience for the children.
Pupils Nalah, Solomia, Gracie and Lilly shared the title role of Matilda.
Priorswood performer lead, Hannah Bardle, said: "Thank you to the Tacchi-Morris.
"We literally wouldn’t be here without you and have loved every moment of this experience.
"I am so proud of the children, there is no denying their talent.
"What an amazing opportunity."
Headteacher Carly Ellis said: "Wow!
"Utterly speechless with the Matilda performance tonight.
"I don’t think there were many dry eyes in the audience.
"For the children at Priorswood, to have an opportunity like this is a huge deal and a moment that they will cherish forever.
"Well done to all the children for their wonderful performances – I am incredibly proud.
"A huge thank you to Hannah Bardle, Kevin Stratton and the Tacchi Morris team.
"Well done again to all the cast – you were all phenomenal."
