A CHARITY single has been released to raise money for treatment for a five-year-old from Burnham who has cancer.
Jack Gyde was diagnosed with a Stage 4 High Risk Neuroblastoma earlier this year after mum Sarah noticed him limping.
Community carer Sarah and her colleagues at Brunelcare immediately started fundraising, aiming to raise £250,000 for maintenance treatment that would avoid a relapse but is not available in the UK.
The care team at Brunelcare have been donating funds to ‘Jack’s Journey’ to raise money for Jack to receive life-prolonging treatment in America.
Now local Bristol legend Daz Sims has released a charity single entitled Cowboy Jack, which debuted at 28 on the iTunes chart.
The family needs people to download the single by midnight on Thursday to propel it into the UK Official Top 40 and keep it there.
A Brunelcare spokesperson said: "Every download of Cowboy Jack supports fundraising efforts for five-year-old Jack Gyde, who is battling stage 4 high-risk neuroblastoma.
"Jack urgently needs lifesaving treatment in the US, which costs £250,000.
"Your simple act of downloading this song can make a world of difference."
Jack said: “I hope I get well soon. I miss going to school and playing with my friends.”
Mandy Curran, Brunelcare Operations Manager, said: “We are wishing Jack a speedy recovery.
"Our Somerset team is united in support of Sarah and Jack.
"Contributions to his GoFundMe page and participation in fundraising events demonstrate our commitment.
"Sarah is a fantastic carer and valued team member, and we look forward to her return.”
Jack is currently undergoing chemotherapy and radiotherapy, with surgery and a stem cell transplant planned.
If Jack’s NHS treatment is successful, he has a 40-50 per cent chance of survival.
However, if he relapses, his chances drop to just five per cent.
The funds raised will support additional maintenance treatment in the US to reduce the risk of relapse and improve his chances of survival.
Sarah said: “It was the middle of January 2024 when I noticed Jack limping.
“After several doctor visits and an eventual trip to A&E, tests revealed a tumour above his right kidney.
''On February 15, Jack was diagnosed with stage 4 high-risk neuroblastoma. We were devastated.”
