MORE than 180 guests ‘glammed up’ and enjoyed an evening of delicious food, a raffle and live music to raise money for a worthy cause in July 2018.

The evening was packed full of people including Taunton Deane's mayor at the time, Catherine Herbert, who was with ex-mayors of Taunton Deane.

ARC, formerly known as TAH (Taunton Association for the Homeless), held a black-tie charity dinner to raise money for their veteran’s project, Victory House.

Victory House was launched in February 2018, aiming to provide specialised support and accommodation for veterans who have sadly become homeless. The service assists veteran clients with difficulties, such as PTSD and institutionalisation.

A game of ‘heads and tails’ raised over £200 before the first course had arrived at guest’s tables. During the dinner, guests heard from Tim Poole, the programme manager of Splash Community Projects, who completed the building conversion for Victory House.

The event there was a wide range of prizes that were auctioned off to people in attendance. The auction was deemed a huge success with over £3000 raised for the charity.

Coming to the end of the night, attendees were treated to some wonderful live music from the Decadettes, a vintage singing group that performed songs from the 20s, 30s and 40s.

Rosie Hather has worked at ARC for ten years and was the fundraising and communications officer at the time for the charity.

She said at the time: “It was a fantastic evening, enjoyed by all and raised an amazing amount for charity. The grand total is revealed to be four figures which will make a huge difference to the lives of many veterans who need our support.

“Thank you to everyone who contributed and supported the event, from purchasing a ticket to donating an auction prize.

“We couldn’t have done it all without you.”
