Both drivers involved in a two-vehicle collision on the A39 near Polsham were taken to hospital - one of which has believed to have 'life-chsnging' injuries.

Police are appealing for any witnesses or dashcam footage after a two-vehicle collision closed the A39 Wells Road in Somerset.

Emergency services were called to the scene near Polsham, between Wells and Glastonbury, at about 2.45pm, Saturday, July 27.

A white Peugeot van and a grey Kia Sportage were involved in a collision. Police said thankfully no one sustained any life-threatening injury and their families are aware.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said: "A woman and a young child from the Kia went to hospital by land ambulance. The woman has a potentially life-changing injury while the child went as a precaution.

"A second woman, the driver of the van, also went to hospital by land ambulance but is not currently believed to have sustained a life-changing injury.

"The air ambulance attended to support their emergency colleagues but were not needed for patient transport.

"Officers would like to thank members of the public who assisted at the scene."

The road was cleared shortly before 7pm.
