CRICKET fans in and around Taunton can travel on a £1.50 single fare or for just £2 each way thanks to a partnership between the county cricket club and a bus operator.

Buses of Somerset, which serves communities across Somerset, has partnered with the prestigious Somerset County Cricket Club to help fans get to match days in a stress free, sustainable way.

The partnership aims to promote the bus as an eco-friendly transport option for cricket fans.

As part of the agreement, Buses of Somerset will provide a range of benefits, including discounted travel.

Cricket fans can travel on a £1.50 single fare from anywhere within Taunton, while those travelling from outside Taunton can get to the ground for just £2 each way.

To celebrate their ‘first innings’ together, Buses of Somerset, which is operated by First Bus South, will also be hosting two ‘Catch the Summer’ pop-up events at Somerset CCC’s Cider Festival on Friday, August 2 and Family Fun Day on Sunday, August 4.

There will be giveaways and prizes from the bus company, with a ‘Spin the Wheel’ game, as well as an ice cream trike and chance to win free ice cream.

Fans will also be given the chance to watch the match from the top deck, on one of Buses of Somerset’s open top buses.

Helping fans get to both events, the operator is offering a special ticket price for Friday 2 and Sunday 4 August, with a ‘Group of 5 for £5’ special offer bus ticket – allowing any five people to travel for just £5 to the events.

James Eustace, commercial director of First Bus South which operates Buses of Somerset, said: "We are so proud to partner with Somerset County Cricket Club, a sporting institution is a huge part of Somerset’s community and history.

“As an important part of the local community ourselves, we wanted to show our support for this club.

“Our collaboration not only offers a stress-free way for fans to get to match, but also supports our mission to promote public transport as a green, efficient, and convenient choice."

Caroline Herbert, commercial director of Somerset County Cricket Club, said: “We are very excited about this partnership with Buses of Somerset.

"It’s a fantastic opportunity to enhance the match-day experience for our supporters while promoting sustainable travel options.

“Together, we can make a significant positive impact on the environment and the local community.”

Fans can get to the Cooper Associates County Ground on BoS services 1, 2, 25 and 28, via Rail Station Bridge.
