SOMERSET Council has announced a temporary closure of four popular roads in Frome to conduct gas mains work.

The application was revealed on the Public Notice Portal.

The affected roads include Orchard Street, Trinity Row, Goulds Ground, and Goulds Lane.

According to the council, traffic will be prohibited from Orchard Street - from the junction with Vallis Road to the junction with Trinity Row, Trinity Row - from the junction with Orchard Street to the junction with Goulds Ground, Goulds Ground - from the junction with Vallis Road for its entirety and Goulds Lane - from the junction with Goulds Ground for its entirety, totalling 484 metres.

The closure is aimed at enabling Wales & West Utilities to carry out essential gas mains works on these roads.

The disruption is likely to last for around a month, with works expected to commence on August 12 and last until September 13.

Closures will be in place around the clock from midnight to 11.59pm, according to the notice issued by the council.

The order comes into effect on August 8 and will remain in force for a duration of eighteen months.

Motorists and pedestrians are being directed to One Network's website for further details on alternative routes.

To view closures for more than two weeks in advance, free registration with One Network is required.
