BUTLIN’S have announced the arrival of a new ‘SKYPARK Playground' just in time for the summer holidays.
The playground is part of a number of new openings at the UK resort, with over £20 million invested at Butlin’s Minehead since the floodings heavily impacted the resort last September.
Several sensory features have been continued within SKYPARK, including a unique ‘Sound Domo’ which plays 18 relaxing sounds.
The six zones are based on positive play emotions, with a dedicated play space for tots.
The new playground has some brand-new features including the UK’s longest swingline at 42 metres, a wheelchair-friendly seesaw, and two light-up intertwining slides.
The play space lights up in the night for “an amazing after-dark experience.”
In total there’s been £23 million worth of investment at the Butlin's Minehead resort in 2024.
This investment has resulted in 400 units of accommodation being completely renovated after the flooding damage last year.
Butlin’s has seen a resurgence in popularity in recent years with their ‘Big Weekenders’ attracting a completely different audience to their resorts.
‘Studio 36’ was a popular entertainment venue for Big Weekenders and will now be permanently staying at Butlin’s.
This will be used on adult-only Big Weekenders, where headline acts will appear to nearly 2,500 guests.
Minehead also opened the first ‘Changing Places Toilet' facility across the three Butlin's resorts.
Located next to the new playground, the Changing Places Toilet is designed to be fully inclusive, offering a height-adjustable changing bench, a ceiling hoist, and a toilet with transfer space on either side.
Craig Goodwin is the Resort Director at Minehead Butlin’s and has overseen the recent changes.
Craig said: “We’re delighted to have opened our new truly inclusive SKYPARK Playground.
“As the Home of Entertainment, nowhere else offers fun like Butlin’s, so with SKYPARK and all our other new openings, we’re confident guests will have the best holiday experience.
“We want all our guests to enjoy their holiday and use our facilities in safety and comfort, which is why we’re pleased to have partnered up with Changing Places Toilet.
“We’ve come a long way since the devastating floods last year and I am proud of all these new openings and what our resort has to offer for our guests.”
