AN independent pub partner has stepped in and rebranded a pub in Taunton town centre.
The venue on Corporation Street previously known as Pitcher & Piano is now The Library.
A spokesperson for the new venue said that The Library “has moved over to a partnership agreement within Marstons PLC”.
The Library will be “gradually layering in new events and activities” in the next month.
The spokesperson said: “I’m pleased to confirm that The Library (previously Pitcher & Piano Taunton) has moved over to a partnership agreement within Marstons PLC.
“The pub is still part of the Marstons group, and all products supplied by them but is now run by an independent pub partner responsible for day to day running and staffing.
“We are really excited about this new agreement with The Library and will be gradually layering in new events/activities over the coming months.”
The spokesperson also added that both pubs “were and still are part of the Marstons PLC group” and that the Pitcher & Piano company remains trading in other locations.
Some members of the original team that have stayed and are now working with the new Partner for the pub, the spokesperson also said.
The building that hosts the venue used to house the town's public library until it was moved to Paul Street in the 1990s and is Grade II listed and in a conservation area.
Back in November 2021, Pitcher & Piano unveiled plans for a major upgrade.
In March 2022 the pub re-opened after a £550,000 refurbishment.
